Life is Too Short to Wait

Ever wanted to introduce yourself to that guy (or girl) you’ve been eyeing for that past month? Or what about trying out for the basketball team in high school?  Maybe you wanted to tell that family member you loved them? And we’ve all wished to go back in time and change a few things.

I have encountered each of these situations and many more resulting in missed opportunities and “what-ifs” because I was too afraid of rejection.  I was caught up in wondering what if he isn’t interested or what if I’m not good enough or what if the moment is awkward rather than simply accepting the outcome and moving on.  I missed these opportunities because I automatically assumed I’d have time for these things at a later date. I’ve actually come to the realization that I procrastinate much of my life.  I’m the queen of procrastination and have become quite comfortable in this role.  But now I want something different.  I want much more.  I want to live life on the edge and say “I walked up to this man and poured my heart out with no regrets.”  One day I’m going to say “I asked my supervisor for a promotion and got it” or “I became a millionaire by taking the road less traveled.”  In 10 years when I tell the world my success story, I want you to be in awe by my truths like I am with Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Vera Wang, Oprah, Necole Bitchie (Google her), Steve Harvey, Charlie Wilson, J.K. Rowling, Tyler Perry, and Kim Kardashian (…j/k).  These successful names have been homeless, laid off, told no, or failures at some point in their lives.  They were rejected but none of them gave up.   They didn’t wait for opportunities, they created them.  And that’s what I want you to take note of.

As we grow older, we start to realize how fast time goes by.  That’s not a coincidence, that’s life.  Our lives are really short and if we sit on our hands and do nothing, our lives will be full of missed opportunities and regrets.  I ask you to write down a few goals you want to pursue or have done, set a deadline, and actually commit to accomplishing them.  Trust and believe when those goals are accomplished, you’ll feel renewed and able to conquer the world.  Heck I lost 5 pounds and was ready to walk out the house in a bikini lol.  But that goes to show if you put your mind to it, you can do anything you want.  Instead of wishing for what others have, make your life purposeful and worth living.

  1. Thank you for unknowingly giving me confirmation! I’ve been telling myself to stop procrastinating and put myself out there for months now. Earlier today I sat down and started making a list of things to do and this post just gave me that much more reason & motivation to get them done! THANKS

    1. No problem girl! Glad I could indirectly advise you lol. When you think you’re alone, there’s always someone out there with you and I write these blogs to vent. I’m surprised to find there are a lot of ppl reading who relate so thanks for reading.

  2. I love it!! I’ve just started a journey yesterday where I’m going to actually go out and do all those things I’ve wanted to do. I’ve taken the step to post my first blog post and I’m going to get my bum in gear! So many days I see pass by and I realize I haven’t done all those things I want to do. Well, no more. I’ve started The Passion Hunt to get me going. I’m so excited to follow your story as well!
